there were just SO MANY advancements and you need all of the different areas that HoI presents for the player for this very purpose. i would say if they brought Vicky 2 back toward the 17th through 19th centuries it would be awesome for a mod but it should STILL end around 1920 or so. but with aircraft, such in depth types of aircraft at that, tanks, new air land and sea unit types and the concentration of populations in cities rather than a concentration on agriculture you really need to use the HoI engine and there are some FANTASTIC works in progress which have been going on for YEARS now. before 1936 let's say it was still okay to use the old formats which EU uses and Vicky expanded on. it is much much better to use HoI for the "modern day" mods. my handle on the forum is Generalfeldmarschall and you will obviously notice if you see any of my posts, i think i've only posted about 1,000 times since the year 2000 as i mostly spoke over the phone or e-mail with the dev guys since i was a beta tester and i also was in the beta testing forums.
the same was true with HoI II but i still receive a large amount of information from Paradox's Swedish core team with whom i am good friends. Vicky 2 is great for even the EU time period up until the second world war, but by the time the second world war comes there is just soooo much stuff that must be done that the Hearts of Iron series was produced for that purpose entirely - i was a beta tester for Europa Universalis I, also for Hearts of Iron I, then also for EU2 as they asked all of the beta testers who actually TESTED and did their jobs back to test each title up until EUIII which i couldn't test for because I had been deployed to Iraq that year. for example, HoI III is so in-depth it is better to be used in a modern day mod. Also why not use the new EUIV "Clausewitz 2.5" improved Engine for this mod? i don't know if this Clausewitz 1 improvement used for Vicky can work for such a grand mod.
